2010 Farm Tour Destinations

    Abigails Apiary

Join Abigail as she shows how plants and bees work together forming a beneficial union that is the basis for one third of all our food – also how animals benefit from honeybees. This is a wonderful tour for those interested in beekeeping or thinking of starting their own hives. Each tour will begin every hour on the hour starting at 10am (Weather Permitting). Hives will be opened and a small walking tour of plants. While Abigail will demonstrate that honeybees are very gentle creatures, this is not a tour for those highly allergic to bee stings.

    Best’s Family Farm

One of our longest selling members, the Bill Best as one of the first farmers to leave hybrids and go back to growing heirloom tomatoes and green beans. Three greenhouses will be on the tour and will show the best in heirloom tomatoes and how greenhouses can be heated with water.

    Bleugrass Chevre

Meet the real cheese makers at Bleugrass Chevre, our 40 friendly dairy goats who love visitors and are always looking for treats (we’ll have plenty of animal crackers!). Learn about the different breeds of goats, then tour the cheese plant and learn how our farmstead cheeses are made from all that delicious milk they provide.

    Chrisman Mill Vineyards

Come to Chrisman Mill…hear the laughter of children at play while their parents stroll down long rows of lush grapevines to select the perfect picnic spot. Walk the cobblestone trail to the winery, past the trickling waterfall and quaint wooden bench where hard-working hands have placed the results of that morning's work in the herb garden.

More information to come...

Hillside Heritage Farm

Hillside Heritage Farm is located in Lancaster, in the heart of the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky. Our family-run farm is home to many different animals that are treated as members of the family. Our hogs are pasture-raised and are hormone and antibiotic free, producing high quality pork at fair prices.

    Home Pickin’s

Treat yourself to a change of scenery! Our farm is located in the heart of Jackson County – “where the mountains meet the Bluegrass.” We welcome you to see our work in progress, as we transition from traditional commodity crops, such as tobacco, to direct market crops such as berries, specialty cut flowers, pastured poultry and fresh eggs, all grown the sustainable way.

    Lovers Leap Winery

Visit us at Lovers Leap Winery in Lawrenceburg, KY where you can taste some of Kentucky's finest wines. Nestled in the hills of the Kentucky River basin, the soils of Lovers Leap, so famous for producing tobacco and renowned bourbons, have now been tasked to nourish wine. The rich earth is the perfect medium to unlock the flavor that is the Bluegrass.

Note:  Pre-purchased Tickets and a Tour Map will be mailed in advance of the tour.
